GPX GPS Exchange File

A format widely used for creating and exploring maps, routes, and tracks for various activities such as traveling, biking, running, and geocaching. It has the following features:

  • XML Format: The GPX format is based on XML, which is a standard and human-readable markup language. It can store GPS location data in a structured and consistent way. It can also be easily parsed and validated by various software applications.
  • Data Storage: The GPX format can store three types of GPS location data:
    • Waypoints: Points of interest with GPS coordinates, such as landmarks, destinations, or checkpoints.
    • Routes: Sequences of waypoints that provide directions for a planned journey.
    • Tracks: Records of your movement with a series of points that trace your path.
  • GPX Converter: Automapki Application for AutoCAD, BricsCAD, and ZWCAD allows you to import and export GPX files directly in your DWG map editor. You can combine GPS location data with your CAD designs and visualize them in a map context. Our add-on also supports the conversion of the coordinate systems and the projection of the GPS data onto the georeferenced DWG drawing.

SHP ESRI Shapefile

A file format specifically designed to store georeferenced shapes. It is widely used in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for its ability to represent a variety of geometries and their associated data attributes. It consists of the following components:

  • SHP Geometries: The shapes that define the spatial features, such as points, lines, and polygons. Each geometry has a unique identifier and a spatial reference system that specifies its location on the earth’s surface.
  • SHP Attributes: The data that describe the properties of the geometries, such as name, type, area, population, etc. Each attribute has a name and a data type, such as string, integer, float, etc.
  • SHP Files: The physical files that store the geometries and attributes in a binary format. A SHP shapefile is actually a collection of at least three files: a .shp file that contains the geometries, a .dbf file that contains the attributes, and a .shx file that indexes the geometries.

SHP Converter: SHP shapefiles are widely used in various GIS applications, as they offer a simple and efficient way to store and manipulate geospatial data. One of these applications is our Automapki Application, which is an add-on for AutoCAD, BricsCAD, and ZWCAD. It allows you to import SHP shapefiles into the DWG model space and export DWG drawing entities to SHP shapefiles. This enables you to easily integrate geospatial data with your CAD designs and share them with other GIS platforms.
