DAE Collada File
The DAE (Collada) file extension, an acronym for Digital Asset Exchange, is the primary file format used for exchanging digital assets such as textures, mesh geometries, and texture images across various 3D software products. The DAE format has the ability to store reusable geometry component instances, multiple texture images with corresponding texture coordinates, color transparency, and named groups hierarchy. Our DAE file converters, Autoconverter and Autoshaper, utilize the OpenCOLLADA open framework, facilitating seamless processing of your DAE files. This framework empowers us to read and write to the Collada DAE file format in an efficient and user-friendly manner.
PLY File
The PLY (Polygon File Format or Stanford Triangle Format), is a file format specifically designed to store three-dimensional triangles along with additional properties such as color, normals, transparency, or texture coordinates. Our Autoconverter software, a dedicated PLY file converter, primarily focuses on reading and writing mesh geometry, without considering material properties, which can vary between face vertices in PLY files. It’s worth noting that PLY files can be saved in either binary or ASCII text formats. The binary version is generally preferred due to its significant reduction in file size.
