IGES to FBX: Resources
Refer to the following list for additional resources concerning the interoperability and exchange between IGES and FBX file formats. They will aid you in transitioning from IGES to FBX files.
- Convert Smooth Edges in SketchUp SKP Files
- Convert 3D Mesh Files in the Batch Mode
- Autoconverter for Batch Conversion of 3D Files
- Convert Filmbox FBX File to a Different File Version
- Automesher Desktop Application for Windows to Convert 3D File Formats
- Convert Solid Meshes to Faceted BREP in STEP File
IGES File
The IGES (Initial Graphics Exchange Specification) file format serves as the foundational format for data exchange between various systems, including CAD, CAM, and CAE. Since IGES geometry data is stored in a text format, exporting triangular meshes with thousands or millions of faces using our Autoconverter software may result in larger file sizes. It’s important to note that while the IGES format supports color per assembly, it does not include an alpha component. Consequently, any transparency settings will be lost when saving your stunning 3D design in the IGES format.
Filmbox FBX File
FBX (Filmbox) is a proprietary file format initially developed by Kaydara and now owned by Autodesk, a leading company in 3D software products. The FBX file format can store transparent colors, texture images, reusable geometry components, assembly structures, and even model animation data. However, our FBX conversion software, Autoconverter and Autoshaper, currently do not support animation frames. To read and write Filmbox FBX files in the most efficient way, we utilize the official FBX SDK provided by Autodesk.
