VRML to IFC: Resources
Find below an assortment of resources that delve into the interoperability and exchange of VRML and IFC files. These will prove beneficial in the process of converting from VRML to IFC files.
- Convert 3D Mesh Files in the Batch Mode
- Automesher Desktop Application for Windows to Convert 3D File Formats
- Converting IFC to SKP File with Autoconverter
- Convert IFC File to Different Schema Version
- Convert SketchUp SKP Models with Component Instances to STEP
VRML File
The VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) is an ASCII file format used to store 3D objects along with additional attributes such as light sources, materials, textures, and world transformations. These elements are crucial for rendering the entire 3D scene in a web browser. It’s important to note that the modern and more advanced replacement for VRML is the X3D file format. With our Autoconverter and Automesher Application products, you can import and export VRML files, and convert them into various other file formats. However, please be aware that material textures are only processed for IndexedFaceSet shape geometries saved in the VRML file.
IFC File
The IFC (Industrial Foundation Classes) file extension is commonly used in AEC (Architecture Engineering Construction) software, including applications like Revit from Autodesk or SmartPlant 3D by Intergraph. The IFC file format can store a wide range of information, including model geometry, measurement units, reusable geometry component instances, material colors with alpha values, assembly structure with component names, and generic BIM (Building Information Modeling) data. With our software, Autoconverter and Automesher Application, you can open and save IFC geometries with custom properties and convert them to various other 3D file formats.
