KML to PLY
Please find below the list of our other useful resources related to KML and PLY interoperability and exchange that could help you with the KML to PLY conversion.
- Import STEP, STL, OBJ, 3DM, SKP and other 3D files in AutoCAD
- Automesher Application
- Autoconverter
- Export OBJ, STL, 3DM, SKP, PLY and other 3D files in AutoCAD
KML Google Earth
KML (Keyhole Markup Language) file format for Google Earth and Google Earth Pro allows you to store geographical data including point, line string and polygon geometry in XML textual format. Our Automapki Application for AutoCAD, BricsCAD and ZWCAD allows you to import KML maps into DWG model space and recreate every point, line string, polygon and Collada DAE model geometry saved in the KML file. The longitude and latitude KML coordinates are automatically converted to your geospatial coordinate reference system defined in the DWG drawing. The Automapki Application can also export your point, polygon, curve and image DWG drawing entities to KML file format which can be processed further in Google Earth.
PLY File
PLY (Polygon File Format or Stanford Triangle Format) is a file format developed to store three dimensional triangles with additional properties e.g. color, normals, transparency or texture coordinates. However, Autoconverter our PLY file converter can only read and write mesh geometry without the material properties, as in the PLY file they can vary between triangle vertices. You can save PLY files in a binary or ASCII text file format, with the preference for the binary version due to a significant PLY file size saving.
