OFF File
The OFF (Object File Format) is a file extension used for ASCII text files that contain geometric data of 3D polygonal objects. The OFF file format supports standard 3D triangles, quads, and other generic polygonal shapes. Our Autoconverter software serves as a primary OFF file converter, allowing you to easily convert OFF files into various other mesh file formats. Alternatively, Autoshaper, our other OFF file converter, enables you to transform your OFF files into smooth NURBS shapes. However, it’s worth noting that while the OFF file format is versatile, it does not support the conversion of materials, textures, or group names from more sophisticated 3D file formats.
3DS File
The 3DS (3D Studio) is a widely recognized format used for storing polygonal mesh models. It supports additional features such as model names, reusable geometry component instances, materials with transparent colors, and texture images. However, due to legacy constraints, 3DS model names are limited to 8 characters, and a single 3DS mesh object can only contain up to 32,767 triangles. As a result, when exporting to the 3DS file format, larger meshes must be divided into smaller shells. Our Autoconverter and Automesher Application 3DS file converters simplify this process, allowing you to effortlessly convert any 3D model into the 3DS format. This makes it easy to import your model into DIALux lighting software, which also supports 3DS file extension.
