Import and Export STL, OBJ, 3DS, PLY, 3DM, SKP, IGES, and STEP Files

Empower Your CAD Platform: Automesher's Solution for Handling Diverse 3D Formats

There is often a requirement to import into your base CAD platform either AutoCAD, BricsCAD, or ZWCAD, a 3D model saved in external file format which is not handled by your DWG editor. Automesher add-on comes with the solution to import and export many 3D file formats including STL, OFF, OBJ, 3DS, IV, PLY, VRML, 3DM, SKP, SAT, IGES, BREP, and STEP in your native workspace.

Troubleshooting Corrupted Geometries: Understanding Limitations with Automesher

When importing an external 3D model e.g. STL facets or Rhinoceros 3DM meshes, Automesher add-on provides an option to create either polyface mesh, 3D solid, triangle faces, edge lines or just points. However for some corrupted geometries with crossing faces or empty holes it is not possible to create a valid ACIS solid object but only a simple body entity or a group of surfaces.

Optimize Your Workflow: Exporting Polyface Meshes, 3D Solids, and Others with Automesher

When exporting your DWG drawing model to an external 3D file format ie. Google SketchUp SKP or Autodesk 3D Studio 3DS file, Automesher plugin reads selected polyface meshes, polygon meshes, faces, and 3D solids and writes them to the file in the selected format. Automesher also supports ACIS SAT file format which allows exporting drawing entities as a true solid object with a boundary representation.

Update: There is also the Automesher standalone desktop application that works outside any CAD platform as a Windows executable and allows importing and converting between 3D file formats. It supports many 3D file extensions including STL, OFF, OBJ, SKP, 3DS, IV, PLY, and others.
